#0007, Completed 2022

Tasked with reinventing this client’s forested backyard, we couldn’t help but notice that the ingredients for something special already existed - it just had to be re-imagined - forest, soil and concrete. Why remove perfectly fine (and beautiful) concrete when we could could reconfigure it to accomplish the client’s goals? Not only do we reduce costs; we make something unique. The design distributes the concrete fragments throughout the landscape emphasizing gathering areas. The design imports two types of gravel that are the “leftovers” of the quarrying process. For drainage, we allow all water on site to slowly permeate to groundwater - reclaiming everything.
