Set in Plaza Midwood on a long and narrow low - similar to a bigger shotgun house - the client was eager to activate their backyard for a myriad of activities. We created two levels of activity through a deck at the kitchen level for dining and gathering. On the lower level, we will implement a sunken firepit that works with the current grade, a Sauna, and Spa, an outdoor shower and a cold plunge. We break the mineral composition with strategic strategies to introduce vegetation like a bespoke trellis fastened to the steel posts of the elevated deck. With some creativity, small spaces can be activated for all types of lifestyles.
